Louis Anthony Boone Tragic Shooting Prince William County Death and Obituary: Community Grieves Young Student

POTOMAC SHORES, Va. — A Northern Virginia community is grieving the loss of 18-year-old Louis Anthony Boone of Dumfries, who was fatally shot Monday evening during a violent confrontation at a basketball court in Potomac Shores.

According to Prince William County police, officers responded around 5:33 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1800 block of Potomac Shores Parkway. Investigators said several individuals had been playing basketball when another group approached them, and the situation quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

When officers arrived, Boone was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries. Authorities said four other males were also struck during the shooting. The injured victims — ages 16 to 20 — include a 20-year-old man from Woodbridge, a 16-year-old boy from Dumfries, and two 17-year-old boys from Woodbridge. Police said their injuries are not considered life-threatening and they are expected to recover.

Investigators have detained several individuals believed to have witnessed the incident or may have been involved. Authorities are continuing to interview those present as they work to determine exactly what led to the confrontation and the gunfire that followed.

Lieutenant Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department said preliminary findings indicate the shooting was not random. Detectives believe there may have been a dispute or prior interaction between those involved, though the full circumstances remain under investigation.

Boone, who was attending college, is being remembered by loved ones as a “kind soul” whose life was filled with promise. Friends and family say his death has left a deep void among those who knew him.

The fatal shooting marks the fifth homicide reported in Prince William County so far this year. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Prince William County Police Department or submit an anonymous tip online as the investigation continues.
