Authorities say Franklin was driving northbound when a semi-truck traveling south attempted to make a U-turn across the roadway. The truck, operated by 36-year-old Gerasimos Livieratos of Chicago, reportedly turned into the path of Franklin’s approaching vehicle. Franklin’s sedan struck the trailer, and the impact left him trapped beneath the truck.
Emergency crews responded quickly and worked to extricate Franklin before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
Kentucky State Police arrested Livieratos at the scene. He now faces several charges, including aggravated operating under the influence, vehicular homicide while under the influence, reckless driving, improper turning, failure to signal, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He remains in custody at the Christian County Jail as authorities continue their investigation.
