WESTOVER, Md. — The Westover community is deeply grieving the loss of Quran Middleton, 31, who was found dead in his cell at the Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) on the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2026. His unexpected death has left family, friends, and loved ones devastated as they seek answers while remembering the life he lived.

Maryland State Police reported that Middleton was discovered unresponsive just after midnight. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Forensic Sciences Division are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The results will be reviewed by the State’s Attorney’s Office in Somerset County.
